Chicago Symphony Orchestra Program
This CSO program excerpt from their 1932-1933 concert season includes a biography of Eustasio Rosales written shortly before his death on December 25, 1934. Rosales’ Three Spanish Dances was premiered at the CSO, marking the first time that the CSO had premiered a work by a Hispanic composer.
Mundo al día Newspaper, January 30-31, 1930
The now-defunct Mundo al Día newspaper in Bogotá, Colombia published this article and a subsequent blurb with about Rosales in early 1930.
Unknown newspaper, unknown date
This newspaper article, of unclear provenance, was found in the Rosales family archives about a concert in Daily News Plaza. It is likely this is referring to the 1929 concert referenced in the CSO program.
Irish Choral Society of Chicago Program, 1907
This program from the Irish Choral Society of Chicago in 1907 is one of the earliest typed documents from the Rosales archives. It gives a brief description and photograph of Rosales, then at age 30. Rosales spelled his name differently at different times. Alternate spellings include Eustaseo (as seen in this program), Eustasio, and Eustacio.
More archival documents coming soon, including essays written by Rosales about music and more articles.
